The FDA should hold foreign manufacturers at a minimum to the same standard as American manufacturers or an even higher standard.

Chinese operatives are exploiting global supply chains to flood the U.S. market with untested, unapproved injectable weight loss drugs. Compounded GLP-1s largely rely on Chinese factories for active ingredients. In many cases, the ingredients are meant for animals – not humans – yet millions of Americans unknowingly inject them into their bodies every week.
China has already sent enough fake drug products to make 1.5 billion starting doses and counting for compounded weight loss drugs.
The shadow market of compounded GLP-1 drugs is an active threat to patients nationwide. The FDA has received 1,424 reports of adverse events associated with compounded GLP-1 drugs, including reports of 329 hospitalizations and 23 deaths since September 9, 2025 — though the death count is likely much higher.
