A new national Fabrizio Ward survey, commissioned by Rx Border Defense, shows U.S. voters—especially conservatives—are deeply concerned about unsafe foreign‑made drugs entering the country via online pharmacies and unregulated compounders.
The survey reveals broad support for tougher FDA regulation, stricter enforcement, and efforts to rebuild pharmaceutical manufacturing in America. Rising fears about overdependence on adversarial nations such as China are driving public concern.
“This isn’t just a public health issue, it’s a national security crisis,” said Raul Lopez, Board member of Rx Border Defense, in a written statement. “When we allow foreign adversaries like China to flood our communities with unregulated, dangerous compounded drugs and ingredients, we’re not just risking lives, we’re funding violence, empowering domestic gangs, and undermining American safety. If we want secure borders and safe neighborhoods, we need to shut down the foreign drug pipeline and take back control.”
Key Poll Results Include:
92% of Trump voters want the FDA to do more to protect Americans from unsafe prescription drugs
94% support mandatory country‑of‑origin labels on medications
Only 31% trust drugs made in China, while 82% trust U.S.‑made medicine
88% say the U.S. border isn’t secure until illicit drug ingredients are stopped
67% oppose expanded drug compounding beyond tight exceptions
Just 41% of Trump voters trust online pharmacies to sell FDA‑approved drugs
These numbers point to a widespread desire for federal action to safeguard public health, increase transparency, and cut reliance on foreign drug suppliers—especially in light of recent global supply disruptions and growing tensions with China.
Federal and State officials—including 38 members of the National Association of Attorneys General, more than 80 members of Congress, and Senators Jim Banks (R‑IN), Thom Tillis (R‑NC), and Marsha Blackburn (R‑TN)—are urging the FDA, DOJ, DHS, and FTC to step up oversight of online sales of compounded GLP‑1 drugs and unregulated active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
Of note, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall did not join with the 38 other Attorneys General in the above-mentioned action. ALPolitics.com reached out to Mr. Marshall’s office in early July for a comment, but none was forthcoming.
Sen. Roger Marshall (R‑KS) emphasized the national security risks tied to American reliance on Chinese pharmaceuticals. He has called for deregulation and strategic investment to rebuild domestic drug production.
Lopez added, “The safety of American patients is under attack from unregulated foreign drug factories, shady online pharmacies, and unchecked compounders operating outside the law. Americans are sending a clear message: they want to stop the dangerous flow of counterfeit drugs, manufacture essential medications here at home, and hold violators accountable.”
Fabrizio Ward conducted the national poll (full results HERE) for Rx Border Defense from July 17–21, 2025, interviewing 1,000 registered voters by cell phone (35%), landline (25%), and SMS‑to‑Web (40%), selected from voter files. The margin of error is ± 3.1%.
Rx Border Defense is a 501(c)4 nonprofit raising awareness about dangerous, illegal and counterfeit drugs flowing into our country along with non-US FDA approved drugs falsely marketed as being approved.
